Local berries hit the markets this week, along with asparagus, tomatoes and the prettiest green-topped radishes.
I’m planning my meals accordingly, taking care to include roasted asparagus, strawberry salads, and a stack of radish sandwiches. Oh and pie, so look for a new pie recipe coming to the blog this week.
Here’s a sampling of recipes and articles that inspired me this week:

Here are a few colourful snaps from the week that was:
Our first Sunday dinner enjoyed al fresco: flank steaks, grilled asparagus and simple roasted potatoes with rosemary. I’ve missed the flavours of the grill. This grilled green bean salad and this grilled salmon are on the menu this week.
The flagstones for our patio arrived this week. Danny and I had a good workout unloading the truck of two pallets worth of rocks. I can’t wait to start putting that puzzle together!
Was it the bacon? The farm fresh eggs? Whatever it was, this lazy dinner in four acts garnered me the most Instagram love of all time. I’m still confused how that happened.
This one loves to collect the eggs every morning with me. We visit the garden together as well and make a plan for the day. The plan for this haul included two rhubarb pies.
On hot days, salads are what I want to be eating for dinner. This taco salad with chicken, avocado and tomatoes hit the spot. I can’t wait to make this dinner salad next.
We’ll be eating local strawberries every day for the next month at least.
We met up with friends on Saturday for a little food truck crawl. Montreal’s food truck scene is booming and it’s a fun way to grab bits and bites to suit everyone’s tastes. Poutine for the kids, lobster rolls for the guys, grilled cheese for the babies, and these killer crispy fish tacos for moi, merci.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
