I know there are more than a handful of dads reading and I want to wish you all a very Happy Father’s Day. Here’s hoping you got to sleep in a little and had your favourite breakfast prepared for you. Enjoy your day!
I haven’t planned anything epic for Danny, but we intend to take good care of him today with our traditional breakfast in bed (no orange juice fiascos this time), a solid back rub, and lavishing plenty of love on him all day. I’ll also give him a break from the less enjoyable parenting duties. He can read the bed-time stories; I’ll change the diapers.

Danny, with his father Brian, Clara and a cousin, last Easter. Two amazing dads!
Here are five recipes that caught my eye this week and I plan on trying soon:
- Early Summer Chicken Pasta Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette :: 5 Second Rule
- Sparkling Blueberry Ginger Iced Tea :: Family Fresh Cooking
- A Self Crusting, Dark Leafy Green Quiche :: Mom Advice
- Grilled Grouper, Grilled Oranges, Red Onions and Olives :: A Spicy Perspective
- Rhubarb-Blueberry-Apple Pie with Whole Wheat Crust :: The Vanilla Bean Blog
A few favourite photos from the week:
This Stormy Rhubarb Mojito summed up our week of rain. Recipe on Instagram. PS. Rhubarb leaves are poisonous, so this garnish obviously isn’t means to be eaten.
The upside of rain is that the garden thrives. Here thyme, carrots, chives and kale stretch their leaves for a little sunshine.
Just a friendly reminder: you need this recipe for Crunchy Cucumber, Radish and Lentil Salad with Pickled Shrimp and Shallots.
These birds are becoming more free range as the days go on.
Summer camping begins with tumbling all the gear down the stairs, then sitting down and remembering how much effort it takes to go camping.
Some days a Red Bull iced tea is the only reason I’m still standing at five-o-clock. PS. Landscaping is hard work.
Have a wonderful Sunday, all!
